Media Advisory: Meet the next generation of scientists

WHAT: The State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa will host a reception to recognize the next generation of scientists represented by a group of students from West Branch Middle School. Led by Dr. Hector Ibarra -- the Hygienic Lab's Ambassador for Environmental and Public Health -- these West Branch students have worked in collaboration with scientists from the Hygienic Lab and other UI departments to develop award-winning science projects.

WHO: The West Branch students and Dr. Ibarra will be joined by UI President Sally Mason, who will highlight the contributions of the Hygienic Lab and UI scientists to the next generation of the public health workforce.

WHEN: 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 20 (remarks beginning at 4:30 p.m.).

WHERE: State Hygienic Laboratory (southeast corner of Highway 965 and Oakdale Blvd. in Coralville).
