UI LEAP offers course on assessing value of potential antiques

The University of Iowa Lifetime Enrichment Adult Program is offering a three-part session entitled "What to Keep, What to Throw Out: How to determine if it is valuable." Classes will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 4, 11 and 18 in room 2166 of the Medical Education and Research Facility on the UI health sciences campus.

Course participants will learn general information about antiques and collectibles, including what qualifies as an antique and what determines the value of an item. Participants will also have the opportunity to partake in an "Antique Road Show" by bringing one or two items to class to have them evaluated.

The course fee is $40 for members and $55 for nonmembers.
