Johns Hopkins Business Dean Gupta second of three provost finalists

Yash P. Gupta, professor and dean of the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., will meet with University of Iowa faculty, staff, students and administration leaders and participate in a public forum Friday, April 29 as a finalist for the provost position.

The second of three finalists, Gupta will take part in a forum at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Iowa Memorial Union's Bijou Theater. He will give a 20- to 25-minute presentation before taking questions from the audience. Members of the university community are encouraged to attend. 

Gupta has served as dean of the Carey Business School since January 2008. Previously he was dean of the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and dean of the University of Washington Business School.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Punjab University in India, a master's degree in production management from Brunel University in West London, England, and a Ph.D. in management sciences from the University of Bradford, England.

Interim UI Provost Patrick Barry Butler, another finalist for the position, participated in a forum on Tuesday, April 26. The third finalist is scheduled to visit campus Wednesday, May 4, and will take part in a public forum at 3:30 p.m. in the Bijou Theater.
