Hancher presents the Miró Quartet on April 14 at the Riverside Recital Hall

The University of Iowa's Hancher will present the Miró Quartet, one of the nation's most impressive string quartets, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, at the Riverside Recital Hall, (the former St. Thomas More Church), 405 N. Riverside Drive, Iowa City.

The Miró Quartet is composed of Daniel Ching, violin; Noah Bendix-Bagley, violin; John Largess, viola; and Joshua Gindele, cello. The ensemble's program will include works from Beethoven, Haydn and Samuel Barber—including Barber's beloved "Adagio for Strings."

For the past 15 years, the quartet has built its reputation by winning the Fischoff, Banff, and Coleman competitions as well as the Naumburg Chamber Music Award and the Cleveland Quartet Award. The Miró Quartet has also performed in major concert venues all across the world, including Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic's Kammermusiksaal. The quartet was also the first chamber ensemble to receive the Avery Fisher Career Grant.

The event is supported by the Hancher Partners and gifts to Hancher Circle through the University of Iowa Foundation.

Tickets are $30; college student, $10; senior citizen, $27; youth, $15, all available from the Hancher Box Office.

The Hancher Box Office, located on the first floor of the south end of the Old Capitol Mall near the parking ramp, is open for phone (319-335-1160 or 800-HANCHER) or walk-up business from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Tickets may be ordered online at http://www.hancher.uiowa.edu. Any remaining tickets will be available for sale one hour before show time at the Riverside Recital Hall.
