UI Police investigate two small fires in Seamans Center
At approximately 10:25 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, University of Iowa Police and the Iowa City Fire Department responded to the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences to investigate the remains of two small fires.
The responding agencies found the remains of a small amount of burned toilet paper in a second-floor restroom and charred paper on a bulletin board in room 2258. Both fires had been extinguished for an unknown period and apparently did not produce enough smoke to activate the fire alarm system.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fires. And both were contained to the areas of origin and did not cause serious damage to the building.
The fires are under investigation.
