Media Advisory: Harkin, Branstad to speak at healthier workforce conference Nov. 30

WHAT: The "Building a Healthier Workforce and a Healthy Iowa" conference will focus on improving employee health and controlling health care costs. It is sponsored by University of Iowa College of Public Health, Healthier Workforce Center for Excellence, State Public Policy Group, Inc. and David P. Lind and Associates.

WHO: Tom Harkin will deliver keynote comments via video presentation at 9 a.m., and Governor-elect Terry Branstad will deliver lunchtime remarks at noon.

WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

WHERE: Downtown Marriott, 700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The conference will unveil the "Iowans Speak Out on Their Health" report, which compiles findings from the 2010 Real Iowans Research Initiative. Other topics include: promoting and achieving healthy behavior; integrating employee health programs; employee productivity and return on investment; health insurance trends and innovations; and an update on health care reform.
