MIX for Kids radiothon raises $46,579 for UI Children's Hospital

Mix 96 of Davenport, Iowa, raised $46,579 during its 6th annual Mix for Kids radiothon broadcast live from University of Iowa Children's Hospital in Iowa City, Nov. 18-19.

The Mix 96 broadcast team joined with UI Children's Hospital families and patients to share their stories of courage and hope.

All of the funds raised during the event will benefit patients and their families receiving care at UI Children's Hospital. UI Children's Hospital provides specialized care to more than 140,000 children annually.


Ledolter honored for contributions to quality improvement

Johannes Ledolter, professor of management sciences in the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business, has been named a fellow of the American Society for Quality for his contributions to quality improvement.

Ledolter was honored for his teaching record, for developing statistical methods for quality and process improvement, and for innovative applications of statistical methods to solve quality problems.

The ASQ is a global professional development organization that encourages the development of new methods of improving quality and process improvement.


Fine Arts Council presents Holiday Thieves’ Art Market Dec. 4-5

The University of Iowa’s Fine Arts Council will hold the Holiday Thieves’ Art Market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5 in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge.

More than 100 artists will exhibit and sell their original work in painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, drawing, metal, glass, jewelry, fiber and more.

Each year artists from all over the Midwest apply and are selected through a jury process to exhibit and sell fine art at the market, which is free and open to the public.

Several new artists will also exhibit their work, including photographer Kiera Nichols, a senior at West High in Iowa City. Returning artists include Clement Clayworks with individually hand thrown pottery and jewelry designer Nancy Krahn.
