PHOTO/VIDEO GUIDELINES FOR MARRIOTT, IMU

No flashes or lights may be used inside the Marriott or the IMU, and no cords or cables may lie on the floor. Please bring your batteries and be prepared to shoot from the shoulder.

Photographers may shoot from the back of the room. Please be in position before the start of the processional.

CARVER HAWKEYE ENTRANCES

Because of ongoing renovation at Carver Hawkeye Arena, please use the south and west entrances.

COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES COMMENCEMENT

Doors open at 8 a.m. for the CLAS commencement, and photographers will be allowed on the arena floor until five minutes before graduates begin the processional. In other words, they must return to the designated media area no later than 8:55 a.m.

Brokaw will be available to news media for 15 minutes in the Big Ten Room (third floor of Carver Hawkeye) immediately after the platform speakers conclude their remarks, and before graduates come forward to receive their degrees -- roughly around 11:10 or 11:15 a.m. Because of Brokaw’s tight schedule, members of the media are strongly advised to set up cameras and equipment in advance in the Big Ten Room starting as early as 10 a.m. Saturday. A mult box will be available. Additionally, because of the short time, Brokaw will not have an opportunity to grant one-on-one interviews.

Media planning to attend the Brokaw media availability should contact University News Services Director Stephen Pradarelli by noon Friday, May 14, at stephen-pradarelli@uiowa.edu or 319-384-0007 or 319-621-5263.

For more information about Brokaw’s appearance, visit http://news-releases.uiowa.edu/2010/april/042810brokaw.html.

GRADUATE COLLEGE COMMENCEMENT

Doors at Carver Hawkeye open at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15 for the Graduate College commencement, and photographers will be allowed on the floor until five minutes before a 2:55 p.m. pre-processional. In other words, they must be off the floor no later than 2:50 p.m.

Full arena lighting will be used, so additional lights should not be necessary. Flashes and tripods are permitted. Cords may not lie on the floor in areas of any foot traffic.

Photos may be taken from the perimeter or from Press Row at any time during the ceremony.

Clean audio is available through the arena system.
