Hancher presents chamber orchestra Interpreti Veneziani on April 10

Interpreti Veneziani has built a reputation for exuberant performances since its founding in 1987. The University of Iowa's Hancher will present the chamber orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10. The performance will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 228 E. Jefferson St. in Iowa City.

Specializing in baroque music and performing on period instruments, the ensemble makes its home at Venice's San Vidal Church where it plays over 200 concerts each year to capacity audiences. Interpreti Veneziani made its U.S. debut in January 2007, inspiring a University of Florida audience to offer up a standing ovation before intermission.

The program for the Iowa City performance, the second stop of the ensemble's current U.S. tour, includes music by Vivaldi, Corelli and others.

The performance is supported by the Hancher partners and gifts to Hancher Circle through the University of Iowa Foundation.

Tickets for the April 10 performance are $38; UI student $10; senior citizen $34.20; youth $26.60 from the Hancher Box Office.

The Hancher Box Office, now located on the second floor of the Old Capitol Mall near the UI School of Music, is open for phone (319-335-1160 or 800-HANCHER) or walk-up business from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays.
