A robbery suspect who fled University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Tuesday night has been captured in Bettendorf, law enforcement officials there reported Wednesday night.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, a man suspected of robbery and who had been brought by Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies to UI Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, ran away from the medical center, assaulted a female UI student and stole her car.

Police launched a search for Anthony Michael Koehlhoeffer, described as 6-feet tall, weighing 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, wearing a hospital gown and a blue, hooded sweatshirt.

At about 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, Iowa City Police received information that the suspect stole another car and was involved in an accident on the southeast side of Iowa City. UI Police and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units assisted in trying to locate the suspect.
