Crane work to be done on Cleary Walkway Dec. 14
Woodruff Construction will be setting a crane just north of Calvin Hall on the T. Anne Cleary Walkway on Tuesday, Dec. 14, to facilitate the installation of an air handler for the Calvin Hall HVAC replacement project.
This work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. (weather permitting) at the south end of the walkway between Jefferson and Market streets. The work area will be cordoned off. Pedestrian traffic through the walkway will be restricted in lane width but will not be fully impeded.
President Mason appointed to National Campus Compact Board of Directors
Sally Mason, president of the University of Iowa, has been appointed to the National Campus Compact Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1. Mason was appointed during the National Campus Compact Board meeting on Oct. 27.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Iowa Campus Compact. The UI has been a member of Iowa Campus Compact since 2004.
Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents -- representing some 6 million students -- dedicated to promoting community service, civic engagement and service-learning in higher education.
The UI is represented on Campus Compact's The Research University Civic Engagement Network (TRUCEN). Mary Mathew Wilson, director of the Community-Based Learning Program, is the UI’s representative on the Iowa Campus Compact Program Advisory Council.
Recreational Services winter break facility hours, fees reduced
The Recreational Services facility hours will change over winter break, Saturday, Dec. 18, through Monday, Jan. 17. Normal facility hours will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
Hours for the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) over winter break are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekends and Dec. 23 and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 24, Dec. 31, and Jan. 1. The CRWC and all Recreational Services locations are closed on Dec. 25. Facility hour changes also include lap swim, diving, leisure pool, and climbing wall; for a complete schedule of hours by location see http://recserv.uiowa.edu.
Recreational Services will offer reduced walk-in fees to the Field House over winter break. Family hours start Saturday, Dec. 18, and end Monday, Jan. 17, and are offered all open hours at the Field House. The family walk-in fees are: youth (0-3) no charge; youth (4-17), $3; and adults (18 and over), $5.
