Lynch to discuss cancer registry as academic resource Aug. 24
Charles Lynch, University of Iowa professor of epidemiology, will present the 2010 College of Public Health Distinguished Faculty Lecture, "The Statewide Cancer Registry as an Academic Resource" at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, in Room 2117 of the Medical Education and Research Facility on the UI campus.
In 1973, the State Health Registry of Iowa was one of the first to begin providing data to the National Cancer Institute's newly formed Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program. Thirty-seven years later, the registry continues to be a part of this prestigious program.
Lynch, who serves as medical director and principal investigator of the registry, will provide examples in each of the areas of teaching, research and service to demonstrate the value of the State Health Registry of Iowa as an academic resource.
