First Osher Lifelong Learning Institute 'Lunch and Learn' to be held June 11

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Iowa is offering a "Lunch and Learn" series this summer. The first session, "Older Driver Simulator Study," will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in the seminar room (2520-D) located on second floor of University Capitol Centre (part of Old Capitol Town Center).

Join instructor Matt Rizzo, M.D., professor of neurology with UI Health Care, to learn about his team's research results from using a driving simulator to study older drivers.

The cost of the session is $10 and includes a lunch.

Boyd appointed to I-JOBS oversight board

Gov. Chet Culver has appointed law professor and UI president emeritus Willard "Sandy" Boyd to the I-JOBS oversight board. The board will develop rules for the program, review applications and make grant decisions for the $830 million I-JOBS initiative. Boyd served as the president of the University of Iowa from 1969 to 1981, and again as interim president in 2002 and 2003.  Following his retirement he joined the UI College of Law faculty, and in 2002, he founded the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center.  He is also a former president of the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. For more information visit
