Buatti named a fellow of the American College of Radiology

John Buatti, M.D., a physician with University of Iowa Health Care, was named a fellow of the American College of Radiology at the organization's annual meeting on May 3 in Washington, D.C.

The award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to radiology through service to the profession, education or research.

Buatti, professor and head of the UI Department of Radiation Oncology and deputy director of clinical cancer care at Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, is a world-renowned radiation oncologist. His interests focus on tumors of the central nervous system and treating tumors with optically guided radiotherapy.

STAR 102.5 FM Radiothon to benefit UI Children's Hospital May 21-22

The STAR 102.5 morning team, Ken and Colleen, will broadcast their 11th annual radiothon to support Children's Miracle Network from 5 a.m. Thursday, May 21, until 5 p.m. Friday, May 22, from the first floor of John Colloton Pavilion at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Listener donations will be given to Children's Miracle Network to support patients and their families at UI Children's Hospital. The STAR 102.5 radiothon has raised more than $2 million for this effort over the past 10 years.

Ken and Colleen will share stories of former and current UI Children's Hospital patients and the physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who care for them.

Third annual Osher winery tour series begins May 26

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the UI is offering its third series of Iowa winery tours, "Wines of Iowa III," on Tuesdays from May 26 through June 30.

Each trip lasts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes lunch, wine tasting, classes and tours, and transportation. The scheduled visits are:

--May 26, Grape Escape Vineyard and Winery, Inc. in Pleasantville.
--June 2, White Oak Vineyards in Cambridge.
--June 9, Brush Creek Winery in Bellevue.
--June 16, Penoach Winery, Vineyard and Nursery in Adel.
--June 23, Stone Cliff Winery and Vineyard in Dubuque.
--June 30, Snus Hill Winery in Madrid.

The cost per person is $75 per trip, $210 for any three trips or $400 for all six trips. Groups registering four individuals will receive a $25 discount per trip.
