Local UI pharmacy student participates in leadership conference
(Student name) of (hometown), a student at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, was one of 15 UI students who attended the 2009 Bill Burke Pharmacy Student Leadership Conference, held Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in West Des Moines.
The two-day event drew a record number of applicants from the UI College of Pharmacy and the Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Thirty pharmacy students from both schools were chosen to participate, earning the opportunity to network with professionals. Through lectures and workshops, they learned to capitalize on their strengths and improve their communication skills. The program also exposed students to the challenges facing the pharmacy profession, including contemporary issues such as its role in public health.
The conference is a collaborative effort between the UI, Drake University and the Iowa Pharmacy Association, with support from the Iowa Pharmacy Foundation and Main At Locust Pharmacy in Bettendorf, Iowa.
