Engineering college announces engineering summer camps for youth
The University of Iowa College of Engineering will offer a variety of summer camps and programs for students who want to learn about engineering.
--PharmCamp is a program for girls who are interested to learn about the fields of pharmacy, medicine and engineering. Open to female students who completed grades 4, 5, or 6 during the 2008-09 school year. For more information visit http://k-12.engineering.uiowa.edu/PharmCamp.php.
--RoboGrrl is a great program for girls who want to learn about robotics. Students will learn to use mechanical design software, use logic to control the robot, design and build electrical circuits, and participate in a robot talent show. --Gateway Academy is a day camp experience designed to inspire students to learn more about science, technology, engineering and math. Students work together using leading-edge technologies to sample disciplines such as robotics, aeronautics and computer design. --RoboCamp is a program for high school students organized by NASA Researchers at UI. This program will give students the opportunity to explore and develop technical skills related to robotics, programming, electronics and mechanical design. --Engineering is Elementary (EiE) teaches students about technology, the engineering design process, and how to work as a team. Open to students who completed 3rd or 4th grades during the 2008-09 school year and are in select communities in Washington County, Iowa. --Cedar Rapids Science Station Camps offer eight weeks of the very popular Cedar Rapids Science Station summer programs. The Iowa City locations will be held in the College of Engineering.
