'Planet Earth' movie series continues at Museum of Natural History

The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History's Movies@MNH series continues on Sunday, July 12 with a free, public showing of the episode "Mountains" from the Discovery Channel's 2006 award-winning documentary series, "Planet Earth."  The screening is at 2 p.m. in the Biosphere Discovery Hub, located on the third floor of Macbride Hall on the UI Pentacrest.

"Mountains" features a tour of the planet's mightiest mountain ranges. The 50-minute episode gives an unprecedented look at the rare animals that inhabit the mountains, with high definition footage of scenes like a snow leopard's hunt on the treacherous slopes of the Himalayas or a puma family's struggle to survive the unstable weather of the Andes.

The UI Museum of Natural History features three permanent galleries exploring natural history and emerging environmental research in Iowa and beyond. For more information call 319-335-0606 or visit
