UI Department of Theatre Arts hosts 10-minute play festival Feb. 19-22
The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will present one of its most popular traditions, the 10-Minute Play Festival, Feb. 19-22 in Theatre B of the UI Theatre Building. The performances will be at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 19-21, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.
This festival's plays, selected from 48 submissions, will be:
--"The Instigator" by Everett Hirose, directed by Noah Parks.
The festival directors are Kate Aspengren and Eric Burchett. Aspengren, a Theatre Arts Department faculty member and alumna of the Iowa Playwrights Workshop, is an award-winning playwright whose works have been published by Samuel French, Inc. and are produced regularly throughout the country. A 2004 graduate of the UI Department of Theatre Arts, Eric Burchett is a published playwright and also serves as the electrics and sound supervisor for the Division of Performing Arts.
Admission will be $6 ($4 for students, seniors and youth) at the door. Tickets will go on sale one hour before curtain time.
Some of the plays contain material of an adult nature. Potential audience members who are concerned about whether the production is appropriate for them should contact the Department of Theatre Arts at 319-335-2700 for additional information.
