UI severe weather information page now available

The University of Iowa Office of University Relations has activated its Severe Weather Web site for the winter season at http://www.uiowa.edu/homepage/severe-weather/. A direct link to the page may also be found in the lower right-hand corner of the UI home page at http://www.uiowa.edu.

The National Weather Service today issued a blizzard watch from Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon. The storm is predicted to produce 6 to 12 inches of snow, northwest winds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts exceeding 50 mph and overnight temperatures in the single digits.

The Severe Weather page features notices about winter weather-related class and event cancellations, snow removal contacts, UI weather policies, links to road conditions, safety tips and other helpful information.

The page will be updated whenever severe winter weather strikes or is imminent or campus operations are altered because of the weather. Additionally a banner will appear across the top of the UI homepage if and when the UI issues a weather-related Hawk Alert. Clicking the banner will also take visitors to the weather page.
