UI plans Nov. 6 press conference to announce Johnson County exit poll results

WHAT: Press conference to share results of a University of Iowa exit poll of Johnson County voters.

WHO: David Redlawsk, UI associate professor of political science, with students from his political campaigning course.

WHERE: Room 302 (the commons), Schaeffer Hall. Schaeffer is the southeast building on the UI Pentacrest.

WHEN: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6.

On Election Day, students in Redlawsk's political campaigning course will conduct exit polls with 800 to 1,000 voters in 15 Johnson County precincts.

The poll examines which candidates people voted for and why in the presidential, U.S. House and U.S. Senate races. It looks at voters' views on the financial crisis and binge drinking, and which local issues they think should be priorities for the community.

At the press conference, Redlawsk will provide results and analysis. The students will be able to discuss what they learned by conducting the poll.
