WRAC leadership program nets 2009 Iowa Women's Foundation grant, award
The Women's Resource and Action Center at the University of Iowa has been named a recipient of a 2009 Iowa Women's Foundation grant for its Iowa National Education for Women (N.E.W) Leadership Program. The $5,000 grant was awarded on the basis of the center's commitment to helping women and girls develop skills that promote employment and economic success through this program.
Iowa N.E.W. Leadership Program is an intensive, five-day, residential institute designed to help undergraduate women develop public leadership skills, learn about civic involvement and network with women who are involved in public leadership at all levels.
WRAC will also receive the Iowa Women's Foundation "50% Solution" Award for contributions made to advance women and girls in Iowa. Since women make up 50 percent of the state's population, the future of the state is inherently tied to opening doors of opportunity for women.
The presentation of the grant and award will take place Tuesday, Oct. 21 during the Iowa Women's Foundation's Annual Luncheon at the University Athletic Club in Iowa City. This event is not open to the public.
