Education fair to attract students from underrepresented groups Oct. 21

All currently enrolled University of Iowa undergraduates are invited to the annual "New Opportunities in Education Passport Fair 2008" from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Room N300 Jones Commons in the Lindquist Center on the UI campus. Coordinated by the UI College of Education Dean's Office and currently in its third year, the event is designed to especially attract students from underrepresented populations to careers in education.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about elementary and secondary programs in the Teacher Education Program and the enrollment application process, which includes the special considerations policy for select student populations. Raffle prizes and refreshments will be provided.

UI HealthWorks to celebrate opening Oct. 22

UI HealthWorks will celebrate the grand opening of its new facility with a ribbon cutting and open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 3 Lions Drive in North Liberty.

UI HealthWorks partners with employers to meet their occupational health needs with a comprehensive array of services, including treatment of illness and injuries, certification exams, pre-placement exams, drug and alcohol testing, and independent medical evaluations to improve the health status of workers and lower work-related health care costs.

The 2,800-square-foot facility provides onsite radiology, prescription drug dispensing, case management and full physical therapy services.
