Hancher box office will be closed during UI Thanksgiving break, Nov. 22-30

The University of Iowa Hancher box office will be closed during UI Thanksgiving break, Nov. 22-30. The box office will resume regular business hours on Monday, Dec. 1. While the box office is closed, tickets may be ordered online at

The Hancher box office, displaced by the June flood, is now located in Suite 107 in the south building of the Lindquist Center, at the corner of Madison and Burlington Streets. Regular business hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Parking is available in the metered lot by the UI Main Library on Madison Street, or in the Old Capitol Town Center parking ramp at the corner of Clinton and Burlington streets.

From the local calling area, dial 319-335-1160. Long distance is toll-free, 1-800-HANCHER. People with special needs for access, seating and auxiliary services should dial 319-335-1158, which is equipped with TDD for people with hearing impairment who use that technology.

Dec. 6 Mini Medical School offers sessions for adults, kids

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, the UI College of Nursing, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will host concurrent Mini Medical School programs for adults and children from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Nursing Clinical Education Center at UI Hospitals and Clinics.

The program for adults will focus on juvenile diabetes. The children's program will include sessions on the heart and lungs, nutrition, muscles and bones, and patient simulators used in medical and nursing education.

Participants who are relatives of individuals with type 1 diabetes may also participate in a free screening session, part of national research program called Diabetes TrialNet.

The Mini Medical School programs are free, but registration is required due to space limitations.
