June 9, 2008 At A Glance Miss Iowa contestants to visit UI Children's Hospital June 10 Contestants for the Miss Iowa crown will visit University of Iowa Children's Hospital beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10. Following their tour of UI Children's Hospital, the contestants will participate in activities in the Patient Library with children and their families at 11:15 a.m. Barron named Admissions Professional of the Year The 700-member Iowa Association for College Admission Counseling (Iowa ACAC) has named Michael Barron, assistant provost for enrollment services and director of admissions at the University of Iowa, its "Admissions Professional of the Year." The award was presented at IACAC's Tri-State conference in Madison, Wis., May 20. Iowa ACAC President Chris Traetow said Barron has been a vital component of the organization over the past 20 years, and he praised Barron's continuing commitment to Iowa and its students. Tim Hauber, Iowa ACAC past president and chair of the group's nominating committee, said Barron's passion and advocacy for the profession has influenced not only his staff, but many of his colleagues throughout the state of Iowa.
