MEDIA ADVISORY: Post-flood media tours of three buildings on UI campus July 30

WHAT: Post-flood media tours of the Samuel L. Becker Communication Studies Building, the Adler Journalism and Mass Communication Building and the English-Philosophy Building on the UI campus

WHEN: 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Who: The tour will be guided by Jane Meyer, senior associate director of athletics, who has been on loan to UI Facilities Management to oversee the UI's building-by-building, post-flood cleanup efforts; and by Joseph Kearney, associate dean of research and development in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

-- Samuel L. Becker Communications Studies Building, located east of the Iowa River on Madison Street. To view a map, see

-- Adler Journalism and Mass Communication Building, located east of the Iowa River just north of the UI Main Library. To view a map, see

Media who will be participating on the tour may park vehicles in the UI Main Library parking lot at the east end near the dumpster and meet the tour guides at the English-Philosophy Building.

WHY: To provide an opportunity for members of the media to witness firsthand and photograph and videotape the progress being made in the flood recovery efforts in these buildings
