UI Family Care-North Liberty will offer nurse-midwifery services
UI Family Care-North Liberty will begin offering nurse-midwifery services on July 11 when Laura Murphy Dellos joins the staff of the clinic.
Certified nurse-midwives receive extended training in providing a more hands-on approach to pregnancy care for well women than traditional obstetrical and gynecologic practices.
Murphy Dellos received her nurse-midwife certification in 1991. She earned her master's degree in nursing science from the University of California, San Francisco.

UI physician named president of artificial organ group
Wayne Richenbacher, M.D., a professor of cardiothoracic surgery with University of Iowa Health Care, began a one-year term as president of the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs (ASAIO) during the group's annual meeting, June 19-21 in San Francisco.
ASAIO membership includes engineers, investigators, research scientists and clinicians from a variety of disciplines. The society exists to develop organ replacement therapies in order to provide patients with viable therapeutic options for end-stage organ failure.Richenbacher also serves on the board of the International Federation for Artificial Organs (IFAO). He joined ASAIO in 1984.
