Osher hosting pre-performance class on 'Pentagon Papers'

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Iowa Center on Aging will host a pre-performance class Jan. 23 on the L.A. Theatre Works production of "Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers" Jan. 30 at Hancher Auditorium.

The Jan. 23 class will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 2166 of the Medical Education and Research Facility. UI College of Law faculty members Randall Bezanson and Tung Yin will discuss how constitutional rights, national security, and the role of journalism affect our personal lives and national affairs.

The cost is $45 per person, which includes a ticket to the Jan. 30 production at Hancher. Individuals who already have purchased tickets to the performance and would like to attend the pre-performance class Jan. 23 may call OLLI at 319-384-4221 for a reduced rate.

The Jan. 23 session is one of several spring 2008 OLLI courses, which provide unique learning opportunities for adults age 50 and older. There are no education or experience requirements to enroll, and there are no course tests or grades. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the UI is a program of the Center on Aging and is affiliated with the national network of Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes, designated and funded by the Bernard Osher Foundation of San Francisco.
