New winter weather Web page provides cancellations, other information

The University of Iowa Office of University Relations has launched a new Web page that features notices about winter weather-related class and event cancellations, snow removal contacts, links to road conditions, safety tips and other helpful information. A tab linking visitors directly to the page is found along the lower right row of the UI home page.

The Winter Weather Information page -- http://www.uiowa.edu/homepage/severe-weather/ -- will be updated whenever severe winter weather strikes or is imminent or campus operations are altered because of the weather. Additionally a banner will appear across the top of the UI homepage if and when the UI issues a weather-related Hawk Alert. Clicking the banner will also take visitors to the weather page.

Questions about the page may be directed to Wendy Brown in University Relations at wendy-brown@uiowa.edu.

UI advises students to double-check spring 2009 class locations

The University of Iowa Registrar's Office strongly encourages students registered for spring 2009 classes to double-check the location of those classes via ISIS at http://isis.uiowa.edu.

Many classes have been relocated because of the summer floods, and ISIS will provide the most up-to-date locations for next semester's classes.

Further questions may be directed to the registrar's classroom scheduling office at 319-335-1243.

UI seeks Honorary Degree nominations

The University of Iowa Honorary Degree Selection Committee is seeking nominations for Honorary Degree awards to be conferred in 2010.

Three others will receive honorary degrees in 2009; see http://www.news-releases.uiowa.edu/2008/September/091808honorary.html for details.

Nominations should be made in a two-page statement or letter, outlining the nominee's achievement, and forwarded to Evalyn Van Allen-Shalash, Office of the Provost, 111 Jessup Hall, or via email attachment to van-allen-shalash@uiowa.edu, or via this Web site: http://www.uiowa.edu/~honorary/nomination-form/index.html.
