Construction project closes Riverside sidewalk

A City of Iowa City construction project has closed the sidewalk on the east side of Riverside Drive between Burlington St. and Iowa Ave. The project, to repair the Burlington Street Pedestrian Bridge over Riverside Drive, should be completed in time for the game Saturday. The pedestrian bridge will remain open during the project.

UI center to co-sponsor Ames nonprofit management seminar in October

The University of Iowa's Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center will host a statewide nonprofit conference at the Scheman Center in Ames Oct. 28 and 29. "Together:  Building Iowa's Future" will be co-sponsored by the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service and the Qwest Foundation, which provided a $10,000 grant. The conference's 48 sessions will consider the themes of youth development, volunteer management, capacity building, Principles and Practices, and professional development. The conference's keynote speakers are Cynthia Wakeman and Kris Meyer.
