UI Children's Hospital hosting heart support group meeting Aug. 23
Pediatric heart specialists with University of Iowa Children's Hospital will hold their fifth annual Young Hearts with ICDs (implanted cardioverter defibrillators) Conference beginning at noon Saturday, Aug. 23 at hotelVetro and the Sheraton Hotel in Iowa City.
This free event allows children who have received an ICD and their families to receive support and education in a relaxed and fun environment.

Annual Courage Ride planned for Sept. 20
The 2008 "Amish Harvest Tour To Cure Cancer Courage Ride" honoring the courage of Seth A. Bailey is scheduled for 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, beginning in Hills City Park in Hills, Iowa.
A new feature of the event is an online auction, available at http://www.courageride.cmarket.com.
Mohammed Milhem, M.D., honorary chair of the ride, also cares for patients affected by sarcoma. The disease, a cancer that arises in the bones, took the life of Seth Bailey. All proceeds support research at Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa.
The biking routes range from 18 to 100 miles. More information is available online at http://www.courageride.org.
