Osher Lifelong Learning Institute announces fall courses

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Iowa Center on Aging has announced its fall 2008 schedule of courses, with sessions on health, digital photo albums, music, art, technology, dance, book preservation, presidential politics, theater design and the CRANDIC railroad.

Following is the OLLI fall schedule:

-- "Trends in End-of-Life Care," Thursdays Aug. 28-Sept. 18
-- "Creating a Post-Bound Digital Photo Album," Wednesdays Sept. 17-Oct. 8
-- "Musical Phenomena: J.S. Bach, Beethoven and the Beatles," Sundays Sept. 21-Oct. 5
-- "Your Virtual Second Life: In 3-D," Monday, Sept. 22
-- "Artist Studio Tours: Creative Talent in the Iowa City Area," Tuesdays Sept. 23, Oct. 7 and 21
-- "Bailamos! (Let's Dance Latin)," Wednesdays Sept. 24-Oct. 29
-- "How Other Democracies Choose Their Chief Executives," Tuesdays Oct. 7-28
-- "The Place of Presidential Debates in American Political Culture," Thursday, Oct. 2 and Tuesday, Oct. 7
-- "Adventures in Book Conservation," Thursdays Oct. 23-Nov. 13
-- "Debussy and La Belle Epoche in Paris," Sundays Oct. 26-Nov. 9
-- "Design for the Theater: One-Day Workshop," Saturday, Nov. 1
-- "A History of the CRANDIC Railroad: Lunch and Learn," Tuesday, Nov. 11

OLLI courses provide unique learning opportunities for all adults age 50 and over. There are no education or experience requirements to enroll, and there are no course tests or grades.
