MEDIA ADVISORY: Institute for Biomedical Discovery groundbreaking is Sept. 28

WHAT: Groundbreaking at the site of the University of Iowa Institute for Biomedical Discovery

WHEN: 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28

WHERE: Off Newton Road, between the south side of the Carver Biomedical Research Building and the east side of the Medical Education and Research Facility on the UI health sciences campus (for directions/assistance, contact David Pedersen at 319-335-8032)

WHO: Scheduled speakers include:

  • Iowa Gov. Chet Culver
  • Iowa Lt. Gov. Patty Judge
  • UI President Sally Mason
  • Jean Robillard, UI vice president for medical affairs
  • Meredith Hay, UI vice president for research
  • Representatives for Sens. Charles Grassley and Tom Harkin, and Rep. Dave Loebsack

University officials, state and local leaders, invited guests and others will gather Sept. 28 at the site of future construction of the UI Institute for Biomedical Discovery, which will house laboratories and office space dedicated to cross-disciplinary research in the biomedical and life sciences.
