University of Iowa News Release

Sept. 7, 2007

Entry forms now available for 2007 Homecoming Parade

Entry forms for the University of Iowa Homecoming Parade are now available at HyVee locations in Iowa City and Coralville, Iowa City Public Library, and online at http://www.uiowa.edu/~hmcoming/documents/HC%2007%20Parade%20application%20eform.pdf.

Entry forms are to be submitted to the University Box Office no later than Tuesday, Sept. 18. The parade will step off at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. Campus departments, organizations, affiliates and those from surrounding communities are encouraged to participate.

This year's theme is "Our Heroes are Hawkeyes" with honored guest Brandon Routh, former Hawkeye and star of "Superman Returns," and grand marshal Jim Keane who played at Iowa in 1941 and 1942 then enlisted in the Navy during World War II, later playing for the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. Other guests featured in the parade include the 2007 Homecoming Court, Hawkeye Marching Band, Spirit Squad, and other organizations from across Eastern Iowa.

"Last year's parade was very successful and I'm hoping this year's will be also," says parade director Cally Williams. "It's going to be really exciting having 'Superman' participate this year. We're expecting a big crowd and lots of different float entries."

Please note that Iowa City streets will be busy and closing early on Friday, Sept. 28 to accommodate the parade route and staging areas. For more information on street closing times and parade applications contact parade director Cally Williams at cally-williams@uiowa.edu or 319-335-3250.
