Joez Lickliter to participate in pharmacy health fair Oct. 26
Joez Lickliter, pharmacist and wife of Iowa men's basketball coach Todd Lickliter, will take part in an upcoming health fair hosted by students from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.
The student-led health fair will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville. Lickliter will greet families from 5 to 6 p.m. The free event, one of several being hosted by UI pharmacy students in recognition of American Pharmacists month, will feature glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, heartburn awareness education, and poison prevention education.
Lickliter received a bachelor's degree in pharmacy at Butler University in 1982. Over the past 25 years, she has worked as a pharmacist in both hospital and community pharmacy settings.
The health fair is a great opportunity to meet members of the community while promoting the pharmacy profession, she said.
"Helping solve health or medication issues that affect a person's quality of life is very rewarding, and it motivates many pharmacists in their work," Lickliter said. "Pharmacists play a really important role in the health care system, and they are terrific resources for patients as well as physicians and other health care providers."
Lickliter added that she's looking forward to interacting with the students as well. "I've always enjoyed working with pharmacy students and interns. They're the future of the profession," she said. "I'm grateful to have been asked to join them at the health fair."
