Hubbard Street's Shannon Alvis presents dance master class and workshop at UI
The University of Iowa Youth Ballet will present a workshop with live piano accompaniment featuring Hubbard Street Dance Chicago company member Shannon Alvis, 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Grey Studio of UI Halsey Hall.
The participation fee for the workshop is $30 by cash or check for each student, at the door. The workshop, which will include a master class in ballet technique, a variation/repertory class and discussion about "A Day in the Life of a Professional Dancer," is intended for intermediate/advanced dancers.
Alvis trained at Jordan Academy of Dance at Butler University and at the University of Utah. She has performed with the Utah Ballet, the Indianapolis Ballet Theatre and the Chautauqua Ballet Company, and has attended numerous summer programs. She joined Hubbard Street 2 in June 1998 and moved to the main company in June 2000.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, one of America's perennially popular dance companies, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, in the UI Hancher Auditorium (http://news-releases.uiowa.edu/2007/september/092107hubbard_street.html).
