Mix 96 Radiothon benefits UI Children's Hospital
Quad Cities radio station Mix 96 raised $45,628 during its the third annual Mix for Kids Radiothon, broadcasted live from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 15 and 16 at University of Iowa Children's Hospital in Iowa City.
Radiothon hosts Debbie McFadden, Pat Leuck, Polly Peterson and Ron Evans shared stories of the expert care at UI Children's Hospital. The proceeds will support 85,000 patients and their families who come to the hospital yearly from the station's listening area.
"We are delighted at the response of our listeners," said Jim O'Hara, Mix 96 programming director. "They dug deep to support University of Iowa Children's Hospital, and we are fortunate to be involved in supporting such an important cause."
Proceeds from the event will benefit various programs that support specialized equipment purchases.
University of Iowa Children's Hospital serves children and their families at its main campus in Iowa City and satellite clinics in communities throughout the region. A 180-bed "hospital within a hospital," UI Children's Hospital benefits from the sophisticated services and comprehensive resources of UI Hospitals and Clinics. Child magazine ranks UI Children's Hospital among the top 20 children's hospitals in the nation.
Children's Miracle Network has a membership of 170 children's hospitals nationwide. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, Children's Miracle Network is an international, nonprofit organization dedicated to generating funds and awareness programs to benefit children treated at children's hospitals throughout the United States and Canada. Children's Miracle Network's hallmark is that locally generated donations stay in the local area to benefit patients at the local children's hospital. Children's Miracle Network also includes 75 corporate sponsors, 200 television stations and more than 135 radio stations.
