Liberal Arts And Sciences Students Inducted To Communications Honor Society

A group of 51 students who are majoring in communication studies in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences have been inducted to the UI chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association.

To become a member of a Lambda Pi Eta chapter, students must have completed at least 60 semester hours in college, with at least 12 semester hours of communication study, a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and a communication studies grade point average of at least 3.25. Honorees must also display commitment to the field of communication.

As an accredited member of the Association of College Honor Societies, Lambda Pi Eta has nearly 300 active chapters at colleges and universities worldwide.

Iowa

BETTENDORF: Lindsey Negaard, of Bettendorf, a junior majoring in communication studies and political science in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Negaard is a 2004 graduate of Bettendorf High School and the daughter of Larry and Jackie Negaard.

Mallory Paul, of Bettendorf, a junior majoring in elementary education and communications studies in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Paul is a 2004 graduate of Bettendorf High School and the daughter of John and Maureen Paul.

CEDAR RAPIDS: Constance N. George, of Cedar Rapids, a May 2007 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and a minor in psychology, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. George, a 2000 graduate of Xavier High School, is the daughter of Archpriest Alexander George and Carmella Cook and the fiancé of Andrew Haake.

Stacey Stefani, of Cedar Rapids, a senior majoring in communication studies with minors in sociology and human relations in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Stefani is a 2004 graduate of Washington High School and the daughter of Richard and Diane Stefani.

CLIVE: Kristin Ehrecke, of Clive, a junior majoring in communication studies and Spanish in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Ehrecke is a 2004 graduate of Valley High School and the daughter of Wesley and Cecilia Ehrecke, of 13350 Cedarwood Ave.

DAVENPORT: Katharine Lensing, of Davenport, a senior majoring in communication studies and English in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Lensing is a 2004 graduate of North High School and the daughter of Marilyn and Jerry Lensing.

IOWA FALLS: Jessica Colwell, of Iowa Falls, a junior majoring in communication studies with an English minor in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Colwell is a 2004 graduate of Iowa Falls High School and the daughter of Dr. Michael and Renee Colwell.

JOHNSTON: Ryan Gourley, of Johnston, a May 2007 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with bachelor's degrees in communication studies and psychology, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Gourley is a 2003 graduate of Dowling High School and the son of Chris and Kathy Gourley, of 7331 Hyperion Pointe.

ST. ANSGAR: Larissa Edgington, of St. Ansgar, a junior majoring in communications studies and sports studies with a minor in religious studies in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Edgington is a 2004 graduate of St. Ansgar High School and the daughter of Tom and Melissa Edgington of St. Ansgar and Terry and Monica Langenberg of Tulsa, Okla.

Illinois

ELGIN: Megan Mole, of Elgin, Ill., a May 2007 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a bachelor's degree in political science and communication studies was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Mole is a 2003 graduate of Elgin High School and the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Mole.

FLOSSMOR: Deirdre Sweeney, of Flossmoor, Ill., a May 2007 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and aging studies, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Sweeney is a 2003 graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School and the daughter of Tom and Jane Sweeney.

LANSING: Kimberly Sanders, of Lansing, Ill., a junior majoring in journalism and mass communication and communication studies in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Sanders is a 2004 graduate of Thornton Fractional South High School and the daughter of Deborah Witvoet and John Sanders.

LONG GROVE: Kevin Courtois of Long Grove, Ill., a junior majoring in communication studies with a minor in journalism and mass communication and pursuing a certificate in entrepreneurship in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Courtois is a 2004 graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson High School and the son of Mark and Pat Courtois.

ST. CHARLES: Michael J. Schneider, of St. Charles, Ill., a May 2007 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a bachelor's degree in English and communication studies, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Schneider is a 2003 graduate of St. Charles North High School and the son of Ken and Linda Schneider.

Minnesota

EDINA: Rebecca Wright, of Edina, Minn., a May 2007 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and journalism and mass communication, was initiated into Lambda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association. Wright is a 2003 graduate of Edina High School and the daughter of Linda and Greg Wright.
