News Briefing May 21 To Detail Report On Iowa Physician Workforce
WHAT: The release of a report by a University of Iowa-led task force on the physician workforce in Iowa.
WHO: Peter Densen, M.D., executive dean of the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and task force chair, will give details on the task force report and be available for follow-up questions.
Jean Robillard, M.D., UI vice president for medical affairs and dean of the Carver College of Medicine, and Donna Katen-Bahensky, UI senior associate vice president and CEO of UI Hospitals and Clinics, will offer opening remarks.
Roger Tracy, assistant dean and director of the college's Office of Statewide Clinical Education Programs, and a task force member, will be available for follow-up questions.

WHERE: Room 1117 in the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF). The room is located just off the MERF atrium.
Leaders of the Carver College of Medicine and UI Hospitals and Clinics initiated a task force in summer 2006 to examine issues related to Iowa's physician workforce. Participants included medical leaders, hospital executives and medical educators from across the state. The task force was asked to measure the state's physician supply and demand, analyze key workforce trends, and make recommendations.
Copies of the task force's report will be available.
