Registration Underway For UI Alumni Reunion 2007

The University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA) invites alumni to reconnect with old friends, reminisce about former days on campus and make new memories during Alumni Reunion 2007, Thursday, June 8 through Sunday, June 10 in Iowa City. Registration for reunion events and activities continues through May 28.

This year's reunion, sponsored by Oaknoll Retirement Residence, will honor graduates of the class of 1957. In addition, the Tippie College of Business, College of Engineering, Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, and College of Nursing will honor classes from additional years. Classes that graduated more than 50 years ago are invited to attend as well. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will also host a lecture by photographer Peter Feldstein, professor of art and art history. Visit the UI Alumni Association's reunion website at http://www.iowalum.com/reunions/arw for a complete listing of honored classes.

Highlights of the reunion include tours of the newly refurbished Old Capitol, which closed in November 2001 after a fire destroyed its historic golden dome and cupola. An extensive repair and restoration program have made this treasured landmark accessible to the public once again.

Other highlights include the All-Class Banquet Friday, June 8, when the UIAA will hold the Circle of Gold presentation to honor 50-year alumni. On Saturday, June 9, during a special luncheon, the UIAA will present the Distinguished Alumni Awards, the highest honor given to alumni and friends of the university.

Events for Reunion 2007 begin Friday, June 8 with college tours and seminars and conclude on Sunday, June 10 with a farewell breakfast at the UI Athletics Hall of Fame. Several college socials and dinners are also planned, as well as a preview of the Iowa Voyagers 2008 travel season.

Housing for the reunion weekend will be available at several area hotels; a van service is also available to transport guests from hotels to reunion activities.

Registration fees are $10 for UIAA members, $20 for non-members, plus various costs for college dinners and other activities. For more information on how to receive an Alumni Reunion brochure call 1-800-469-2586. To register online, visit the UIAA Web site at http://www.iowalum.com/reunions/arw.
