March 14, 2007 Poet Richard Kenney Reads At UI March 28
Kenney, who teaches in the Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Washington, is the author of "The Evolution of the Flightless Bird," winner of the Yale Series of Younger Poets Prize; "Orrery"; and "The Invention of the Zero." He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim and MacArthur Foundations, the Rome Prize in Literature, and a Lannan Literary Award. His individual poems have appeared in many magazines and literary journals. Writing in the New York Review of Book, Brad Leithauser described Kenney as "one of the most gifted and multifaceted and original of American poets."
