Leach To Speak On 'Leadership In America' At June 21 Luncheon
Former U.S. Rep. Jim Leach will speak on "Leadership in America as it Relates to Challenges of the Moment" at a noon luncheon of the Iowa City Foreign Relations Council (ICFRC) Thursday, June 21, in Rockwood Fellowship Hall, Congregational Church, 30 N. Clinton St. in Iowa City.
Leach served 30 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he chaired the Banking and Financial Services Committee, the Subcommittee on Asian and Pacific Affairs and the Congressional-Executive Commission on China. He attended Princeton University, the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University, and the London School of Economics. He holds eight honorary degrees, has received decorations from two foreign governments, and is the recipient of numerous awards.
He is currently the John L. Weinberg/Goldman Sachs and Co. Visiting Professor of Public and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton. He also serves on the boards of the Century Foundation, the Kettering Foundation and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission. He formerly served as a trustee of Princeton University.
This program is presented with support from The Wilson Family Foundation, courtesy of Herbert and Janice Wilson, and the University of Iowa Community Credit Union. Taste of China will cater the event. For those unable to attend, WSUI-AM 910 will carry the program at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24, on Iowa Public Radio.
Reservations are $7.50 for ICFRC members and $8.50 for nonmembers. The deadline to register is noon Monday, June 18.
