UI Police Investigating Assault

A female University of Iowa student reported to UI Police that she was assaulted at about 11:45 p.m. Friday while walking in the parking lot on the south side of the UI Main Library. She told police that a man came up behind her, shoved her against the fence and covered her mouth. She was able to fight him off and flee.

The victim describes the suspect as black male, in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, 170 to 200 pounds, with black hair. He has an athletic build and wore a dark jacket and black baseball cap.

The UI Police Department is currently investigating this incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 319-335-5022.
