Carver College of Medicine Honors Sioux City Educator Leonard

Susan Leonard, residency coordinator at the Siouxland Medical Education Foundation in Sioux City, has been selected to receive the first Community-Based Education Coordinator Award from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.

The award recognizes individuals for their excellence and dedication in coordinating medical education and medical residency programs in UI-affiliated, community-based settings.

Leonard was selected for her professionalism in performing her duties, the exceptional way in which she organizes educational programs, and the thorough and clear manner in which Leonard communicates with UI medical students, residents and staff.

The award's selection committee was comprised of representatives from the Carver College of Medicine's Office of Statewide Clinical Education Programs and Office of Student Affairs and Curriculum, as well as the Graduate Medical Education Office at UI Hospitals and Clinics.

Leonard's selection was announced Feb. 14 in Des Moines at the meetings of the UI-affiliated community-based program directors and the family medicine residency coordinators.
