University of Iowa Health Care Projects Win National Recognition
Projects coordinated by the Joint Office for Marketing and Communications (JOMC) at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics resulted in several national and regional awards during the past year.
Compass, a newsletter for faculty and staff edited by Jane Zukin, JOMC, received a Ragan Recognition Award of Excellence for three recurring column/features: "Newsworthy," "Changing Medicine. Changing Lives." and "Closeup." "Compass" also received a Healthcare Marketing Report Advertising Award.
A UI Sports Medicine Hawkvision video received two awards: Merit Winner for Television Advertising in the 23rd Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, and a 2006 Bronze Telly Award. The team included Dan Fischer, JOMC, and Storandt Pann Margolis, a Chicago agency.
Pursuing Excellence, the annual report for fiscal year 2003-04, received an Award of Distinction from the Association of American Medical Colleges. The team included designer Robyn Hepker, Benson & Hepker Design; photographer Doug Benton, fisheye; photo coordinator Rita Liddell, JOMC; and editor Michael Sondergard, JOMC.
Well & Good, a consumer publication, received a Silver Quill Award of Excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)-Pacific Plaines region, and a Bronze Quill Award of Excellence from the IABC-Iowa Chapter. The team included Pat Badtke of the JOMC, editor, and Robyn Hepker, design.
In the same IABC-Iowa competition, PACEMAKER magazine received an Award of Merit. Team members included Doug Benton, photographer; photo coordinator Rita Liddell, photo coordinator; Michael Sondergard of the JOMC, editor; and Robyn Hepker, design.
JOMC projects also received two Gold ADDY awards and two Silver ADDY awards from the Cedar Rapids Federation of Advertising:
-- Best in Category and Gold ADDY - Elements of Advertising/Photography: NICU photo (used in The Academic Difference annual report for 2004-05), Doug Benton, photographer; Rita Liddell, photo coordinator; Robyn Hepker, art director.
-- Gold ADDY - Newspaper campaign/color: The Academic Difference four-color print ads; honors to the JOMC's Amy Austin, Dan Fischer and Stacy McGauvran-Hruby; Storandt Pann Margolis; and Paul Elledge, photographer.
-- Silver ADDY - Elements of Advertising/Photography: 2005 Annual Report photos; honors to Doug Benton, photographer; Rita Liddell, photo coordinator; Robyn Hepker, art director.
-- Silver ADDY - Collateral/Brochure Four-color: Emergency Medicine brochure; honors to the JOMC's Lee Ann Williams, Cheryl Hodgson, Michael Sondergard, Rita Liddell and Cody Ash; and Doug Benton, photographer.
The Academic Difference newspaper campaign also received a Gold award in the 2006 Aster Awards for Excellence in Medical Marketing competition; honors to the JOMC's Amy Austin, Dan Fischer and Stacy McGauvran-Hruby; Storandt Pann Margolis; and Paul Elledge, photographer.
