Hancher Showcase Holiday Shopping Hours Begin Oct. 31

The Showcase gift shop in the lobby of the University of Iowa Hancher Auditorium will be open extended hours for holiday shopping Oct. 31 through Dec. 21. The Showcase will be open 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, except for Thanksgiving.

Entry to the Showcase is through the main lobby doors of Hancher.

The Showcase will also be open 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, for Men's Shopping Night. Women or partners may create a Showcase wish list in advance of that date, if they so choose.

In addition to its regular merchandise -- arts-related items, jewelry, home decor, recordings, games and collectibles -- the Showcase always stocks a variety of new holiday items, including tree ornaments, seasonal decorations and toys.

This season the Showcase commissioned the creation of coaster sets featuring maps of Iowa and Iowa City, and both paperweights and framed images are available depicting the law school, the Old Capitol and the tower of UI Hospitals and Clinics.

The Showcase is operated and staffed by volunteers from the Hancher Guild. Proceeds support the educational programs of Hancher Auditorium.
