UI Engineering Caterpillar Colloquium On Polymerization Will Be Oct. 26

Charles Hoyle, professor of polymer science and engineering at the University of Southern Mississippi, will deliver a Caterpillar Colloquium Series Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in Room 3315 of the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa.

The lecture, titled "Advances in Photo-initiated Polymerizations" and hosted by the UI College of Engineering Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, is free and open to the public.

As a professor in the College of Science and Technology, Department of Polymers and High Performance Materials, Hoyle does research in areas including the photophysical properties of polymer systems, laser flash photolysis of polymers, and photopolymerization of thin-films based on monofunctional and multifunctional self-initiating monomers.

The Caterpillar Colloquium Series is made possible by grants awarded to the UI College of Engineering through the UI Foundation by the Caterpillar Foundation of Peoria, Ill. The grants comprise the Caterpillar Excellence Fund, which aids student, faculty and curriculum development in the College of Engineering.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. People requiring an accommodation in order to participate in this program are asked to contact in advance the UI College of Engineering Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at 319-335-1400.
