Dedication Ceremony For Hawkeye Tennis And Recreation Complex Is Oct. 25
The University of Iowa Division of Recreational Services will dedicate the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
The dedication event includes an open house from 4 to 6 p.m., and a ribbon cutting ceremony and rededication of the Don Klotz Outdoor Tennis Courts at 4:30 p.m. Interim President Gary Fethke, Vice President Phillip E. Jones, and Men's Tennis Coach Steve Houghton will be guest speakers at the dedication. Refreshments will be provided and tours will be available.
McComas-Lacina Construction of Iowa City completed construction on the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex in July 2006. Neumann Monson of Iowa City was the architect on the project.
The facility includes 12 outdoor tennis courts along with eight indoor tennis courts, a 2,700-square-foot fitness area called Fitness West, an indoor turf facility for intramural and club sports teams, and a 3,500- square-foot Touch The Earth outdoor rental and resource center. The complex is used by the UI men's and women's tennis teams, field hockey team, and soccer team, as well as students and the public for general recreation.
The Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex is located at 2820 Prairie Meadow Drive. The complex can be accessed by turning off Mormon Trek Blvd, onto Prairie Meadow Drive, the road just north of the Hawkeye Hall of Fame. Hawkeye Park Road is also another road that connects to Prairie Meadow Drive.
