UI Dance Marathon To Host Halloween Party For Families
Things are going to get spooky this Halloween for pediatric patients at Children's Hospital of Iowa within University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Patients and their siblings will have the opportunity to enjoy ghoulish games and scary snacks during the UI Dance Marathon Halloween Party, held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, in the Activities Therapy Gymnasium on the first level of the John Pappajohn Pavilion in UI Hospitals and Clinics.
UI Dance Marathon students with a commitment to children with cancer will host the event. Activities will include face painting, cookie and pumpkin decorating, ghost stories, a hands-on "creepy laboratory" and a mummy wrap in which competitors strive to wrap a teammate in toilet paper faster than their opponents.
"It's the perfect opportunity for patients to forget about being in the hospital for a while, and a time for UI Dance Marathon students to interact with the kids in a fun and open environment," said Kristi Musser, UI Dance Marathon executive hospital director.
UI Dance Marathon members work in association with Children's Miracle Network, a fundraising partner of Children's Hospital of Iowa. The UI Dance Marathon is the largest Children's Miracle Network-associated dance marathon in the nation and focuses on regional children and families who are facing pediatric cancer.
Children's Hospital of Iowa at UI Hospitals and Clinics is the state's longest-serving children's hospital. More than 140,000 children receive care at Children's Hospital of Iowa and its statewide network of outreach clinics each year.
