IWP Guest Azriel Bibliowicz From Colombia Presents Bi-Lingual Reading Oct. 10

Colombian writer Azriel Bibliowicz, a special visitor to the University of Iowa International Writing Program (IWP), will present a bi-lingual reading of his work at noon Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the Paul Engle Lounge of the Shambaugh House, the IWP headquarters at 430 N. Clinton St. on the UI campus.

He is at the UI as a guest of the IWP, International Programs, Latin American Studies and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.

Bibliowicz holds a doctorate in sociology from Cornell University and teaches sociology, screenwriting and creative writing in Colombia. He is the author of several novels about the Jewish immigrant experience there. The Master of Arts program in creative writing he is founding at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, the first of its kind in Latin America, will launch in 2007.

Twenty-nine writers representing 22 countries are in residence this fall at the IWP. Biographies of all the writers, along with samples of their writing, are accessible on the IWP website, www.uiowa.edu/~iwp.

Latin American Studies and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese are units of the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
