Seven Officers Join UI Department of Public Safety

The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety has added seven new officers to its Police Division.

Corey Gibney, Libby Vriezelaar and Matt Buffington graduated from a 13-week curriculum at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and have successfully completed an intensive Field Training Officer program with the UI Police. Graduation from the academy and completion of the FTO program allows officers to go on solo patrol.

Officers Gibney and Vriezelaar have been assigned to patrol duties. Officer Buffington has recently been called to active military duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Officers Danny Zepeda, Mitch Seymour, Brian Davis and Mike Smith have graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and are working toward the completion of their Field Training Officer program.  They are working on patrol, but are accompanied by field trainers until completion of the FTO program.
